Effective Sinus Infection Home Remedy

Sinus is a common ailment that cab be relieved with a sinus infection home remedy treatment. Usually bacteria infections around the nose can lead to sinuses. This can produce different kinds of symptoms like facial pains, problems with headaches clogged nose, tooth ache and issues with cough.

Go for the NAC

NAC (N-acetylcysteine is a type of amino acid that can help to dissolve mucus so that it can drain easily. Use the recommended dosage. You can find this in the pharmaceutical department of stores like Walmart.

Eucalyptus oil sinus infection home remedy

If you inhale eucalyptus oil, your sinuses can be opened up. You can buy it at the health food store. Boil about 3 cups of water in a pot and pour it in a plastic bowl to reduce the heat from the container. Put a few drops of the oil in the water and cover your head with a towel over the bowl and breathe in deeply about 3 times in a day for relief.

Eucalyptus rub

If you have access to eucalyptus trees, you can use some of the leaves as a decongestant for sinuses. Follow the procedure below.

  • 3 ounces of eucalyptus fresh leaves
  • 1/3 ounce of ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 1 cup of petroleum jelly
  • 20 drops of peppermint essential oil

Cut the eucalyptus leaves and ginger into pieces and place them in a heatproof glass bowl. Add the petroleum jelly and black pepper to the combination in the bowl and mix well and cover it.

Place a pan of water on the stove and place the glass bowl in it making sure the water level is low enough not to boil over the glass bowl. Give the water a low boil for about an hour and remove from heat. Strain the content in the glass bowl and pour into a closable jar. Add the peppermint essential oil to it and stir to mix. Shut the container tight and store away.

Everyday before you go to bed rub some of the ointment on your throat area and chest to unblock sinuses. Use this sinus infection home remedy only on skin that is not broken.


Juice remedy

Kohlrabi juice treatment

Here is a potent sinus infection home remedy from juices. This cure for sinus infection has been used successfully. Kohlrabi juice from purple or green leaves is high in potassium and sulfur and moderate in vitamins C and A. A combination of the sulfur amino acids and the vitamins combine as strong antibiotics against the nasal bacteria infection. 

Method of preparation

Wash one kohlrabi and cut it into pieces. If you are going to juice it with a Vita-Mix juicer, add some water to it to be more liquefied. If you are using different kinds of juicer, do not add water to it. After juicing mix it with ½ cup of carrot juice and drink it a number of times as a strong sinus infection home remedy.


Other remedies

The vinegar remedy: Add 5 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to 1 cup of water and drink it 3 times a day for four days to reduce the congestion.

Citrus peel remedy: Take a teaspoonful of grated orange or lemon peel each morning for sinus. You may sweeten it with honey.

Cod liver or Castor oil treatment: Take a tablespoon of cod liver oil in the mornings to relieve nasal congestion. Another alternative is to stir 5 drops of castor oil into a 100% natural juice and drink it before taking breakfast.

Horse radish for sinus: Each morning and evening, take ½ teaspoon of prepared horseradish mixed with few lemon juice drops to clear your sinus passage.

Honey cure: Boil a cup of water and add 3 tablespoons of honey to it. Drink it in morning and evening to relieve headaches associated with sinus problems.

The hot milk remedy: This natural sinus remedy is known to be effective for attacking the symptoms of sinusitis. Add a teaspoon of turmeric powder and sugar to a cup of hot milk and drink it 2 times a day for sinus infection home remedy treatment.

Licorice and cinnamon powder: Add the following ingredients to boiling water:

  • 1 teaspoon each of licorice powder and cinnamon powder
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger paste or teaspoon of ginger powder

Salt water inhalation: Add ¼ teaspoon of sea salt to 1 cup of distilled water and pour some in a small spray bottle. Spray a little bit into your nostrils and inhale it.
